WHAT ARE COMPOSITE FILLINGS
A composite filling is tooth-colored, allowing your dentist to match the color of your existing teeth. After tooth decay is removed and cleaned, the tooth-colored material is layered into the tooth. Each layer is hardened or cured with highly intense visible light, and the final surface is shaped and polished to match the tooth. The final restoration is virtually invisible.
FILLING PROCEDURE
While the tooth is numb, the dentist will remove decay as needed. For added protection, if the decay is near the tooth nerve a special medication will be applied. The composite filling will then be placed and polished, restoring your tooth to its original shape and function.
